  • Overview

    This Plant Process Engineer is responsible for overall plant quality and leading continuous improvement efforts. The position is responsible for monitoring and tuning process variables as well as investigating and resolving raw material and quality upsets to ensure product meets all customer requirements.  This position manages three Laboratory Technicians, and one Quality Technician. 

    Responsibilities

    Expected Results:

    • Ensure product meet Encapsys’s goals and customer’s requirements
    • Drive product quality improvements and technical advances to support customer focused quality and improve plant metrics
    • Collaborate with market and technical researchers to understand customer complaints and translate those needs into manufacturing specifications.
    • Train and manage quality lab employees

    Accountabilities: 

    • Responsible for overall plant quality
    • Investigates, troubleshoots and resolves process, raw materials and quality upsets.
    • Develops standard work and training procedures for lab and quality technicians.
    • Assists with the development of quality management systems that conform to ISO 14000 and ISO 9000 standards
    • document control development and support
    • Interfaces with internal and external customers to resolve complaints
    • Analyzes process/test data to create information to reduce variation and improve quality
    • Provides oversight on laboratory test procedures and test instrument calibration and repeatability
    • Leads plant continuous improvement efforts to improve plants quality, delivery, and cost metrics. 
    • Participates in customer tours and customer site visits as needed
    • Support Encapsys scorecard by contributing to team efforts that strive to guarantee quality, minimize cost, meet delivery promises, maintain processes, and work safely.
    • Identify project risks, and opportunities, and create/implement counter measures
    • Manage performance and development of direct reports

    Technical Skills/Experience/Background/Traits:

    • Ability to take on complex projects and programs and drive to successful completion.
    • Ability to troubleshoot challenging issues and implement permanent solutions.
    • Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to resolve problems and make improvements
    • Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting, environment
    • Ability to interact effectively with customers, management team and production personnel
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Business knowledge of cost/benefits analysis, project management, and strategic planning
    • Understanding of manufacturing environments, processes and procedures
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
    • Proven ability to maintain high standards aligned with corporate values.  Ability to hold people accountable and initiate crucial conversations.
    • Leader who can develop, energize, and empower others

    Educational Preferences/Requirements: 

    • BS in engineering/science field or equivalent experience with 5-7 years of experience in process engineering
    • Six Sigma DMAIC Greenbelt certification and minitab software experience a plus
    • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles
